Day 3: Portland and Seattle

Today, we slept in! Evan had a conference call while I went out to breakfast with Katie and Shawn at a great place called Beaterville. They drove me around the University of Portland before Evan and I headed north to Seattle. We met Summer at work before embarking on a Seattle tourist adventure- Pike Place Market, Space Needle, EMP, etc. We had a relaxing evening at a wine bar before having lunch at a great Oaxacan restaurant!

Day 2: Southern Oregon

We woke up very early this morning and drove out to the Oregon Vortex and House of Mystery in Gold Hill, OR. It's a place where they claim that mass can shrink and expand---people can appear larger or smaller and "magnetic terralines" cause balls to appear to roll uphill. Not sure I'm convinced, but it made for a fun hokey stop. Next, we drove through Redwood National Park (yes, we went back to California on only our second day of road trippin'!). We wanted to see the Oregon coast and to stop at the Game Park Safari- a zoo where they actually let you pet and hold wild animals. Evan got to pet a red fox (and form his very own skulk) and we both got to pet a baby bear. See us holding the beautiful African lynx! Evan had to stop at the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area so that he could roll down the hills. We finally made it up to Portland at around 9 pm where we had a great dinner at a New Mexican restaurant before hanging out with Katie and her friends.

The Ultimate Road Trip- Day 1

After a morning of last-minute packing, we hit the road. I have to admit that I teared up when we left our house for the final time. We drove all the way up to Redding, CA before we stopped for lunch at Buz's Crab, a restaurant listed in our "Roadfood" guide. It was actually very yummy. Evan had his share of crab before we continued on, stoppping to take pictures of a dragon sculpture on the side of the road. Lovely views of Mt. Shasta and before you know it, we were in Oregon!

We drove through Ashland to see where the Shakespeare Festival is held and then raced to Crater Lake. We were able to spend a few hours in the park. Absolutely beautiful!

Oregon scares me! Check out this sign!

The Last Hurrah!

Farewell California! We had a BBQ on Friday night in hopes that we could clean out our fridge and freezer. We served up loads of random food and had our friends over to say goodbye!

Giants Game

In our frantic attempt to experience everything San Francisco before we head out east, we crammed in a Giants game on Thursday. It was a sunny afternoon, but became blustery and cold by the end of the game. We sat in the nosebleed seats but had a great time (even though Barry Bonds didn't hit a homerun.) :(
